Slammed Saturdays – Bullies

Photos & Words by Dorian GonWild On 2 December 2023, the quiet grounds of the SSS Advance Driving School in St. Albans turned into a hotspot for car culture. Hosted by Bullies, Slammed Saturdays was more than just another meet — it was a full-day experience packed with fresh builds, established crews, music, food, and a little friendly competition. A Venue Built for the Culture The choice of SSS Advance Driving School was a clever one. The wide, open space gave enough room for cars to spread out, while the driving school’s layout added a motorsport edge to what was still very much a lifestyle event. The setting felt like the right mix between structured and relaxed — the perfect stage for stance cars to shine. The Cars & Crews This edition of Slammed Saturdays saw a strong showing from newcomers, many of them stepping into the scene for the first time. Their energy was balanced by the presence of established car crews like Flip Mode and Broke Boi Cartel, who brought with them the builds and attitude that have helped shape Port Elizabeth’s stance community. The cars ranged from clean dailies with subtle drops to aggressive showstoppers with bold wheel fitment. It was the kind of mix that kept the crowd interested — something for everyone, from those who love minimal detail to those who chase the wildest fitment setups. Music, Food & Lifestyle No stance event is complete without the lifestyle elements, and Bullies made sure those bases were covered. DJs kept the music flowing, creating a soundtrack that matched the energy of the cars rolling in and the people walking the grounds. Food stalls lined the venue, serving everything from quick bites to hearty meals — keeping the crowd fueled throughout the day. The event felt less like a typical car show and more like a festival of culture, with people staying long after they’d seen all the builds just to enjoy the atmosphere. Prizes & Recognition To keep the competitive spirit alive, prizes were handed out to those who entered. It wasn’t just about showing up — it was about standing out. From best stance to unique styling choices, the recognition gave builders a reason to push their creativity even further, while also keeping the crowd engaged. Why It Mattered Slammed Saturdays marked another step forward for the stance scene in Port Elizabeth. By bringing together new faces, respected crews, and a lifestyle-driven program, Bullies showed how inclusive and dynamic the culture has become. It wasn’t about who had the most expensive build or the loudest setup — it was about celebrating the scene as a whole. Final Thoughts The December edition of Slammed Saturdays proved that car culture in St. Albans and Port Elizabeth is alive, growing, and evolving. With cars lined up, beats rolling, food in hand, and prizes to chase, it was the kind of event that reminded everyone why they fell in love with the stance scene in the first place. For many, it was the perfect close to 2023 — a celebration of cars, community, and culture.

German vs. Japan: A Clash of Cultures on Four Wheels

On the 5th of November 2023, car culture came alive at JJ Cillie Rugby Field when King Shine hosted the highly anticipated German vs. Japan event. From early morning roll-ins to the last rev of the day, it was all about stance, style, and the never-ending debate between German precision and Japanese creativity. After the dust settled and the trophies were handed out, Wild FPR had the honor of capturing the winners’ shoot at Baywest Mall’s upper-level parking lot. With the city skyline as the backdrop, the winners rolled in one by one, each car bringing its own story and personality. Among the standouts was Poena, the static Opel Astra Turbo representing the OutCast Crew – a clean and aggressive setup that commanded attention. Parked next to it, a classic Mk2 Jetta showed that old-school German steel still holds its own against modern builds. The Money Heist Toyota Corolla was impossible to ignore, bringing bold styling and creativity into the mix. Right beside it, Barbie’s bagged bug-eye Polo turned heads with its playful theme and flawless fitment. From the Japanese camp, Pedro’s OEM Nissan Sentra reminded everyone that sometimes less is more, while Oil’s bagged Honda Ballade proved just how clean and elegant a well-sorted JDM build can be. One of the biggest highlights was Thiaan’s Opel Astra GSi, slammed on air with super lows, a custom interior, and eye-catching, red-tinted glass – a build that balances aggression and refinement. And then there was Uncle Lenny’s Volkswagen Caddy, which stole the show. On the outside, it sat on Lenso BSX wheels, dressed with a custom interior and a classic BBS steering wheel. Hitched to the back was a half-trailer built from another Caddy bin, carrying a Rukus motorbike like it was made to be there. But the real magic was under the hood: a VR6 R32 engine swap, fully wire-tucked – the kind of detail that makes enthusiasts stop, stare, and nod in respect. The day was more than just a competition. It was proof of how diverse and passionate the South African car scene really is. Whether German or Japanese, static or bagged, subtle or wild – every build told its own story. And as the sun dipped behind Baywest, it was clear that German vs. Japan wasn’t about who won. It was about celebrating a community that lives and breathes cars.

Camp Stance 2.0 – Good Vibes, Low Rides

Photos & Words by Dorian GonWild On 18 December 2022, Port Elizabeth’s car scene pulled up in style for Camp Stance 2.0 – and wow, what a day it was! Held at Willow Park Gate 5 along the iconic Marine Drive, the event had the perfect mix of sun, sea, and seriously slammed cars. From the moment you arrived, the vibe was set. The sound of engines, the shine of polished wheels, and that unmistakable stance swagger filled the park. Every car had its own personality – from clean daily builds to wild showstoppers – and you could tell how much love and effort owners had poured into them. Of course, it wasn’t just about the cars. Camp Stance always knows how to bring people together. Friends chilled out by the coast, new connections were made over fitment talk, and cameras were everywhere, trying to keep up with the rolling art on display. And let’s be real – you couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop. Marine Drive, with the ocean just a few steps away, gave the event that summer holiday energy. Cars + coast + community = the ultimate recipe for a good time. Camp Stance 2.0 proved once again that this isn’t just about stance – it’s about passion, culture, and creating memories. Stance Pools & Beats – Broke Boi Cartel

Photos & Words by Dorian GonWild On 24 September 2022, Port Elizabeth’s McArthur Pool & Leisure Centre became more than just a summer hangout spot. For one day only, the Broke Boi Cartel crew transformed it into a playground for car enthusiasts, music lovers, and lifestyle seekers. The event, titled Stance Pools & Beats, was exactly that — a mix of chilled poolside vibes, carefully selected beats, and some of the cleanest stance builds the city has seen. A Venue with a Twist What made this event special wasn’t just the cars, but where they were parked. Instead of lining up in a parking lot or filling a convention hall, the builds were positioned along the edges of the actual swimming pools. With the ocean as a backdrop and water reflections bouncing off polished bodywork, the venue added a layer of creativity that you don’t often see in car culture events. It felt less like a traditional show and more like a lifestyle showcase — cars, pools, ocean, and people all blending together in a way that made every photo and every angle stand out. The Cars From slammed German sedans to boldly fitted JDM icons, the lineup delivered variety without losing the stance focus. Aggressive fitment, tucked wheels, stretched tires, and attention to detail were the unspoken rules of the day. Each car had its own identity, whether it leaned toward clean OEM+ looks or full-on wild builds. The highlight was seeing these cars up close against the backdrop of water — it turned every shot into a cinematic moment, something you’d usually expect from a photoshoot rather than a public event. The People & The Vibe Stance culture has always been about more than just cars — it’s about community. Groups of friends lounged poolside, music played in the background, and the energy stayed easygoing. The mix of streetwear, cameras, and conversations felt authentic, as if everyone was there for the same reason: to appreciate the culture and enjoy the day. The organizers kept it simple but effective. No unnecessary clutter, no forced hype — just a clean setting where the cars and the crowd carried the event naturally. Music & Lifestyle True to its name, Beats played a central role. The soundtrack of the day ranged from laid-back tunes to head-nodding hip-hop, matching the flow of the event. It wasn’t about overwhelming volume but about setting the tone. With the seaside location and the poolside setup, the music tied everything together — creating an atmosphere that was both chilled and memorable. Why It Mattered For Port Elizabeth — or Slam City, as locals know it — events like Stance Pools & Beats prove how creative the local car community can be. Instead of repeating the same formula, Broke Boi Cartel pushed for something fresh, something that put lifestyle and culture at the forefront. It showed that stance culture isn’t only about cars; it’s about the spaces we bring them into, the people who gather around them, and the memories made in those moments. Final Thoughts Stance Pools & Beats wasn’t just a car event. It was a reminder that the culture is evolving, that it’s about more than machines — it’s about setting, music, people, and creativity. By placing cars poolside, Broke Boi Cartel gave us a unique snapshot of what happens when automotive passion meets lifestyle imagination. For those who were there, it was a day worth remembering. For those who missed it, the photos say it all: cars, pools, and beats — a perfect combination.

Stance by the River – Cars, Beats & River Vibes

Photos & Words by Dorian GonWild On 3 September, we took a road trip down to Port Alfred for one of the freshest events of the season – Stance by the River, hosted by the awesome crew at Stance4Charity. And let me tell you, it was nothing short of epic! Picture this: rows of slammed rides, the iconic Port Alfred bridge standing tall in the background, the river flowing peacefully alongside, and the sound of music carrying through the air. That’s the vibe we walked into – cars, culture, and community all in one spot. The stance scene didn’t hold back. From clean fitments to wild custom builds, there was eye candy everywhere you looked. Every car had its own story, and with the bridge as a backdrop, it felt like the perfect setting for a photoshoot at every angle. But it wasn’t just about the cars – the food vendors brought their A-game. From street food favorites to sweet treats, there was something to keep everyone fueled up for the day. Add in some seriously good DJ sets, and the energy never dipped. Music, food, and cars – the holy trinity of a perfect weekend. What made it even better was the sense of community. Enthusiasts came together, whether it was to talk about builds, share a laugh, or just vibe by the river. It had that easygoing, coastal festival feel – relaxed but buzzing at the same time. Stance by the River showed once again why events like this are more than just car shows. They’re about people, passion, and good times. If you missed it, you’ll want to mark your calendar for the next one – because this was the kind of day you’ll be talking about long after the engines cooled.
